DigiVision – A Digital Art Exhibition

Sounds cool, doesn’t it? It doesn’t exist as of yet, but it’s been on my mind the last couple of days.

As a digital artist, the only thing that I’ve disliked about my artform is that I can’t touch it, I can’t go anywhere to see it and it’s so ‘new’ that most people don’t even really understand it. Thus came the idea to make my own work more tangible by getting my entire portfolio printed and ready for exhibition – anywhere. I was going to get it funded, you know, on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo, but then I thought that I might not be the only one with these thoughts and so the idea of an actual exhibition for digital artists was born.

It would be an international event, hosted in the Netherlands. Why international? Because that is the beauty of digital art: it can be presented and reproduced anywhere in the world. Why in the Netherlands? Because that’s where I am.

It would be a combination of a physical and a digital exhibition, with both printed work and beamers and screens to present on. There would be livestreams with artists painting live from anywhere and  there would be portrait artists painting spectators, as well as artists giving digital painting workshops for people.

Now, I have a lot of ideas for this, but I don’t even know if people would want this, I’m no event planner and it requires quite a lot of funding. So, I want to hear your thoughts on this. Cool, not cool? Care to help me work on the idea? Care to help me figure out how to do it? Care to contribute? Care to exhibit? I’d love to hear your thoughts! I just know that I’ve never had an idea as clear as this one, nor one that would involve as many people, and I know that it would be super cool! Let me know what you think!
